BET AWARDS

1035x746-GettyImages-543250198_master 1035x688-GettyImages-543243250Last night, the 16th Annual BET Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Show stopping moments were apparent from the get-go with Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar opening the show with high-energy and optimal hit, ‘Freedom.’ With the recent death of legendary icon Prince, the award show payed homage with not one, but four tributes throughout the night. Erykah Badu, Bilal, Stevie Wonder and Prince’s long-time bestie and collaborator, Sheila E., were amongst the performers. Jaw-dropping and tear-inducing to say the least. The night was fluid with great performances, awards and acceptance speeches, but the speech to go beyond the night and immortalize itself as nothing short of timeless and necessary was Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams’ acceptance speech following his win for BET’s Humanitarian Award (Watch it here).  Needless to say, the BET Awards did not disappoint. Check out some of our favorite red carpet looks below!
