Met Gala ’16

It’s officially May and with that comes the infamous Met Gala Ball of 2016. For those of

you who live under a rock and don’t know, the Met Gala is an opulent fundraising gala held

every year to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. So

in other words it’s the grand opening of the annual costumes institute fashion exhibit. Every year

there is a set theme, all attendees are expected to dress accordingly to the theme which makes the

whole night magical. This year’s theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of

Technology,” this initially set the tone for a futuristic fun filled night for all attendees.

Everyone who is everyone came to the lavish fundraising benefit, I mean who wouldn’t

want an opportunity to stroll around in a star wars inspired futuristic attire? Famous celebrities

such as Madonna, Katy Perry, Blake Lively and many more came from all over to walk the red

carpet dawning their very best haute couture made of metallic and other shiny tech threads.

When it comes to the red carpet celebs aim to please following current trends, it’s usually a hit

or miss, but in this case the daring take the trophy. The more dedicated to the theme you are

the better!

Some of our favorite celebrities rocked the red carpet, making 2016 the best GALA

ever! Madonna wore a long black laced Givenchy style dress by Riccardo Tisci that was made

for a dominatrix type witch, wearing only stickies on her breast to tease the world. It was racy

and daring, but it had her name written all over it. Another one of our faves we’re drooling

over is Kim Kardashian West & her husband Kanye West. Kanye wore some distressed jeans,

a basic white t-shirt and a shiny biker jacket. He even added some blue contacts to spice things

up. However Kim stole the spotlight with Balmain. Her metallic gown proved she’s always up

for a challenge especially when it comes to fashion.

Let’s talk about Lady Gaga, not only is she an American singer, song writer and

actress, but the woman loves to take fashion to a whole new level with her eccentric style. The

American Horror Story actress is known for her over the top outrageous costumes on camera

and on stage. Last night she definitely turned heads in this show stopper Versace ensemble

cropped jacket with detailed beading for days and heels so high she could touch the sky (not

that she hasn’t already).

So I guess what they say is true, fashion is pain. We have the proof, Kylie Jenner

attended her very first met gala this year, following in her older sisters footsteps. The keeping

up with the Kardashians starlet wore a 20s inspired gown that was made just for her. Kylie

snapped her Balmain scars saying “when your dress made you bleed and your feet are purple”

Ouch! No worries Kylie you still looked amazing to us. Even though she did have to cover up

her scars with some stellar thigh high boots.

Last but not least, the courageous Katy Perry. Whoever said orange is the new black

clearly does not know what they’re talking about. The pop singer walked the red carpet in Prada

black, midnight blue, and gorgeous emerald green velvet Prada open-back gown with gold

enameled collage embroidery. She also sported a Tamagotchi to go alone with her Prada gown,

claiming it’s humble and tech perfect for her contribution to this year’s Met Gala.

So who wore it best? Well you’ll just have to be judge on that.
